A book about the ‘de Nieuwe Stijl’. The New Style was art, defined as an ultimate form of non-art. The design of the cover is too an absolute non-design: we didn’t use any capitals, because that was considered unnecessary at the time; we didn’t use photography because the book itself is all there is to explain about the given of a book. The colour use is reduced to black and white to keep it simpel, with a hint of bronze for elegance.
Rotterdam was nominated for Best Design at the European Design Awards in 2013.
