Background

Profane verlichting, which translates to Profane illumination is a collection of poetry by Dutch psychonaut and poet Johannes van der Sluis, published by Lebowski Publishers. It was selected as one of the 2022 50 Books | 50 Covers winners by the American Institute for Graphic Arts (AIGA). 

Approach

In his third collection the poet gives an intense account of the summer months in a year when everything was at a standstill, but under his magnifying glass they could take on mythical proportions. And that is exactly what we tried to capture in our cover design.
